TTB Participates in Permanent Secretaries’ Meeting on CHAN 2025 Preparations

Dodoma, July 17, 2025

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) participated in a strategic meeting of Permanent Secretaries held in Dodoma to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025.

The meeting, chaired by Mr. Jim Yonazi, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, convened leaders from various government ministries and institutions to review the country’s readiness to host this prestigious continental football tournament.

Representing TTB, Mr. Ephraim Mafuru, Director General, underscored the importance of CHAN 2025 as a unique platform to elevate Tanzania’s global visibility, especially within the tourism sector.

“This tournament will open new opportunities for the tourism industry, as visitors from different countries will have the chance to experience Tanzania’s natural attractions, cultural heritage, and the warm hospitality of our people,” said Mr. Mafuru.

The discussions emphasized the need for integrated planning to ensure that Tanzania not only delivers a successful sporting event but also maximizes the tourism and investment potential associated with hosting CHAN 2025. The goal is to align the tournament preparations with the broader agenda of promoting Tanzania as a premier tourist destination, leveraging the unifying power of sports to boost both domestic and international tourism.
