Hifadhi ya Taifa Kilimanjaro

Hifadhi ya Taifa Kilimanjaro yenye eneo la kilomita za mraba 1,668, ni maarufu duniani kutokana na mandhari nzuri ya Mlima Kilimanjaro ambao ni mrefu kuliko yote barani Afrika.

Mwaka 2013 Mlima Kilimanjaro uliingia katika orodha ya Maajabu Saba Asili ya Afrika. Kilele cha Kibo chenye urefu wa mita 5,895 (futi 19,340) ndicho kivutio kikubwa kwa wageni kutoka ndani na nje ya nchi kutokana na kufunikwa na theluji. Mlima huu ni moja kati ya milima ambayo kilele chake hufikiwa kwa urahisi na hivyo kuwa kivutio kikubwa kwa wapanda milima kutoka kila pembe ya dunia.

Safari ya kupanda mlima huu humpitisha mpandaji katika kanda za hali ya hewa tofauti kuanzia ile ya nchi za tropiki hadi arktiki. Zaidi ya watalii 30,000 hupanda mlima huu kila mwaka wakiwemo wageni kutoka nje ya nchi na Watanzania. Mpandaji wa mlima huu huhitaji angalau siku tano, siku tatu za kupanda na mbili za kuteremka. Kuna njia sita za kupanda Mlima Kilimanjaro hadi kileleni. Njia iliyo rahisi na maarufu zaidi ni ile ya kuanzia lango la Marangu, ambako ndiyo Makao Makuu ya hifadhi.

Wanyama kadhaa hupatikana katika msitu unaozunguka Mlima Kilimanjaro wakiwemo mbega, nyani, nyati, chui, tembo, swala na ndege.

Iko umbali wa kilomita 45 kutoka Moshi mjini hadi lango la Marangu.

Kutokana na umaarufu wa Mlima Kilimajaro makampuni mengi ya kibiashara hutumia jina lake kuuzia bidhaa zao.

Wakati mzuri wa kutembelea hifadhi hii ni kuanzia mwezi Disemba hadi Februari, na pia mwezi Julai hadi Septemba (ingawa wakati huu ni baridi zaidi).

Kuna nyumba za wageni na sehemu za kupiga kambi kadhaa ndani ya hifadhi kwa ajili ya malazi. Kadhalika kuna hoteli mbalimbali nje ya Hifadhi eneo la Marangu. Malazi pia yapo katika miji midogo inayozunguka hifadhi hii.
