Hifadhi ya Taifa Mkomazi

Hifadhi ya Taifa Mkomazi ipo katika mikoa miwili ambayo ni Kilimanjaro na Tanga, ndani ya wilaya za Same na Lushoto.

Hifadhi ya Taifa Mkomazi ilianzishwa kama Pori la Akiba lililomegwa kutoka katika Pori kubwa la Akiba la Ruvu mnamo mwaka 1951.

Hifadhi hii ina ukubwa wa kilomita za mraba zipatazo 3,245. Mkomazi ilipendekezwa kuwa Hifadhi ya Taifa kwa misingi ya kunusuru maeneo na rasilimali zilizomo kutokana na matumizi yasiyoendana na uhifadhi endelevu.

Utalii katika Hifadhi ni pamoja na shuguli za kutembelea Hifadhi na kujionea wanyama na ndege.

Yapo maeneo ya kupumzika wageni (Picnic Site) na Sehemu za kupiga mahema.

Kuna misimu miwili ya mvua ambayo ni Vuli kuanzia Septemba hadi Novemba na Masika kuanzia Februari hadi Mei. Kiangazi huanza Juni hadi Septemba huu ndiyo wakati mzuri wa kuona wanyama na ndege hata hivyo mandhari ya hifadhi hii inapendeza zaidi wakati wa masika.

Hifadhi hii hufikika kwa barabara na anga.

Kuna kambi ya kulala wageni iliyopo karibu na Makao Makuu ya hifadhi (Zange) iitwayo “Babu’s Camp”. Kuna maeneo kadhaa ya kupiga mahema ndani ya hifadhi. Vile vile Mji wa Same una huduma za Hoteli na nyumba za kulala wageni.
